Ambassador at Africa Roundtable on New Models for Africa-Europe Critical Mineral Partnerships
Ambassador Igor CESAR participated in 9th edition of Africa Roundtable panel discussion hosted by Global Perspectives Initiative to explore how Africa and Europe can develop equitable and sustainable new partnerships for critical minerals.
Africa has vast mineral reserves needed for clean energy and digital technologies. Demand continues to surge, the neighboring continents face the challenge of developing partnerships
that move beyond raw material exports toward value creation and sustainable industrial development. Finding new models for Africa-Europe critical mineral partnerships - particularly between Germany
and African nations - presents an opportunity to create mutually beneficial relationships in this strategic sector.
The Africa Roundtable explored possibilities for collaboration in local processing and manufacturing, technology transfer, infrastructure development, and innovative
financing mechanisms for critical mineral partnerships.
The Africa Roundtable was attended by representatives from the political, business, and civil society spheres to foster Europe-Africa cooperation. The Roundtable addressed pressing issues and challenges
faced by the neighboring continents and develops partnership-based solutions and models for future collaboration.
The format is supported by several long-standing partners: the Gates Foundation, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Federation of German Industries, and the Mo
Ibrahim Foundation.
