PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT On VALIDITY OF OLD PASSPORT
As it was annoucned on 28th June 2019 dthe usage of the new RWANDA EAST AFRICA (EAC) ePASSPORT, the Rwanda Directorate General of immigration and Emigration wishes to remind you to apply for the new e-Passport as all existing Passports are in phase out and will expire 28th June 2021 meaning that from December 2020 passport must be renewed to respect ICAO Standards.
To apply for a passport, you will need to have a Rwandan ID Card (Rwandan Identity Card).
Rwandans living outside of Rwanda are required to visit NIDA Headquarters (https://www.nida.gov.rw) in Rwanda to apply for ID.

If your passport has expired, we can issue you an emergency travel document to travel to Rwanda.
